2nd Wednesday of each month –Jan. 14, Feb. 11, Mar. 11, April 8 — 6 pm to 8 pm

Instructors: Marsha Harward & Chris Chamberlain

This year our project will be a 12-month Block of the Month program, Secret & Shadows, honoring women from World War I and World War II who risked their lives as spies in service to their country.  We will study a different woman spy as well as make blocks each month.  The finished quilt measures 89” x 89”.  Patterns and projects are exclusive to the club during the calendar year.

Level: Confident Beginner/Intermediate

Fee: Returning members $20 and new members $35.

Kits available: One-time payment of $280 (if paid by Jan. 31st -10% discount) or quarterly payments of $70.

Every Tuesday (except holidays) – 10 am to Noon

Leader: Diana Hess

Come join our FREE Hand Applique Club.  This club is for those who know the basics of hand applique.  This is a great way to improve on your applique skills and spend time appliqueing with good friends. Be sure and bring a notebook to write down all the tips and tricks you will learn.  We will work together to improve our applique skills and get our own projects completed.

◊Design Divas Embroidery Club◊

 

3rd Wednesdays, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, Mar. 18 – 6-9 pm 

Instructor: Chris Chamberlain

Join us each month for this machine embroidery class. We have another fabulous project to start out the New Year!  Come learn how to applique beautiful flowers for a vintage flower garden with your embroidery machine. Finished quilt approximately 53” x 56”.

January 8thth – March 1st to hand in as many 12 1/2″ unfinished ‘Blocks for the Brave’ as you can

The most frequent remark from a Quilts of Valor recipient when awarded their quilt of valor is “I didn’t know anyone cared.”  Let’s show our appreciation and wrap these brave servicemen and women in quilts!  It can start with one simple star block. Come in and choose a star block pattern or kit.  Make it up in red, white, or blue high quality fabric and return it back to us.  Each star block finished for Blocks for the Brave or Quilts of Valor receive a 5% punch.  You can earn up to 25% off one regular priced item per punch card.  Get 25% off of all fabric used for making a Quilts of Valor star block, quilt, backing, and/or batting.  Let’s get piecing and make “Blocks for the Brave”!  Go to our website to learn about Tami (a local quilter) and her desire to present her son and his squadron each with Quilts of Valor.  It’s a tangible token for us to say thank you for their service, sacrifice and valor.

◊A Rainbow Quilt◊

 

14 Month Block of the Month Starting in February 2015

Create this beautiful quilt with muted flowers the colors of the rainbow.  The quilt has cotton backgrounds and wool applique.  Complete your quilt with pearl cotton embellishment stitches (threads not included in kits). You will receive one of twelve blocks each month. Join us for this fun project. Size approx. 64” x 74”.

Modern Building Blocks – 14 Month Block of the Month 2nd Saturday of each month. 10:00 – 11:00 am.  Starting in February.  March 14th is the next class!  Come join the fun!

Instructor:  Jen Tanner

Traditional quilt blocks built from a modern mix of bold Moda Bella Solid Colors come together in an assymetrical 84” x 96” quilt.  Blocks range in size from a whopping 36” to tiny 6” squares!  Join our monthly Mod Squad for a one hour class full of instruciton, tips, tricks, and Q & A to help you build 2-4 blocks per month for this eye-catching quilt.

Level: Intermediate to advanced.

Fee: $15.95 per month for 14 months. 

If you have already purchased kit, then the Class Fee will be $30.00.

A Hummingbird Garden

 

Create this beautiful garden while learning wool applique.  Each month you will receive the wool and wool floss for one block.  This is the perfect project for those who would like to learn how to applique with wool.  You will also receive two bonus blocks that can be used for pincushions, etc.

4th Thursday, Jan. 22, Feb. 26, Mar. 26, Apr. 23  – 10 am – 12:30 pm

Instructor: Chris Chamberlain

Tiny (4 ½” finished) and mini (9” finished) Dresden Plate blocks adorn this beautiful quilt!  Paper templates are included in the pattern, but you’ll definitely want to invest in Suzn Quilts Dresden acrylic templates for a quicker and more accurate cutting. A fabric collection of at least 35 fat quarters plus border yardage will create this work of art that will become your most favorite quilt ever!  Finished size 72” x 72”.

“When we give a quilt, we give the best of ourselves”  This design by Cozy Quilt Designs was given as a free pattern to the Quilts of Valor Foundation.  It was given with the hope to inspire others to quilt something special for those injured while protecting our freedom.  We wanted to offer you this FREE class to come and sew up this wonderful quilt.  We will teach you the power of strip piecing and how quickly a quilt can be finished using this method.  An easy quilt to make and give to those returning warriors.  25% off kits made and given to the Quilts of Valor foundation and for Tami’s warriors.

We are coming to the point in our Round Robin Block of the Month that I thought it would be helpful to show how this project will all come together.  We will hand out your final blocks, sashing & borders.  Hopefully you will be able to come and receive final instructions.  Can’t make it? Come in after Jan. 29th and get your final fabrics and any handouts.  It’s been a fun Block of the Month.  Thanks for participating.  Hopefully it has been a great learning experience for you.

I love the cuteness of crocheted granny squares; and so of course, I would be smitten with granny squares made from fabric as well.  It’s a good way to use your fabric stash and it is a very scrappy happy quilt!  It is also “quilter friendly”!  Finished size:  72″ x 85.5″.

Basics of Quilting

 

Thursdays, Mar. 5, Mar. 12, & Mar. 19 — 6-9 pm

Instructor: Chris Chamberlain

Learn basic quilt making skills and make an awesome wall hanging from start to finish. You will learn about rotary cutting, accurate 1/4″ seams, pressing seams and adding borders. You also will learn about batting, making a quilt sandwich, quilting by machine, and binding your quilt. Size: Approx. 36″x36″

Learn the art of primitive rug hooking while creating one of these beautiful “rugs.”  Your project can be made into a wall hanging, pillow, table topper, or a rug for the floor. Choose from among a variety of kits available in the shop.

The rich colors and design of this quilt remind you of warm woven shirts and the comforts of home. Learn how to use the Creative Grid’s Hexagon Trim Tool ruler. Create perfect pieced hexagons with 2” finished centers by squaring up each round of strips as you go. Since each round is squared up before the next set is added, the blocks created are perfect hexagons.  A wonderful quilt design develops using this technique and ruler.

This quilt will showcase the reproduction fabrics you love!  The humble 9-patch block has been a favorite among quilters for over a century.  This version was likely made long & narrow for a “hired man’s” cot.  Finished size 78” x 86” or 40” x 48”.

Holiday/Summer Camps for kids and teens held at Corn Wagon Quilt Co. Classes are for 6 years old and older Small class sizes – 8 student maximum $15 per hour, $12.50 w/friend or $10 per student if signed up with 2 or more friends. Weekly, every – other-week, monthly, and on demand classes available Students provide their own fabric and thread and use The Sewing Academy sewing machines and supplies. Special Patterns for Children Sewers Children and teens love to express their creativity by sewing clothing they can wear, and they are learning a valuable life-long skill. You will be delighted how quickly your child can pick up the skills associated with sewing, and have FUN in the process. Class Policies
  • Class sizes will be a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 4 students for a class to be held.
  • Class fees must be paid at time of registration. NO REFUNDS! Your spot in a class will not be held unless you have paid. EXCEPTION: Refund or store credit will be given if we cancel the class.
  • A limited number of kits are available for some classes. Kits must be pepaid for at least 7 days in advance of the class.
  • Basic sewing supplies are required in most classes. A supply list will be made available for applicable classes.
  • Classes will start on time.
  • For safety reasons, no children please.
