Clubs and Monthly Classes

◊Second Wednesday Club◊

 

2nd Wednesday of each month –Jan 13, Feb. 10, Mar 9, Apr. 13 — 6 pm to 8 pm

Instructors: Marsha Harward & Chris Chamberlain

This year our project will be a 12-month Block of the Month program, The Storytellers, honoring women writers.  We will study a different woman author as well as make blocks each month.  The finished quilt measures 102” x 102”.  Patterns and kits are exclusive to the club during the calendar year.  Since we will be studying women authors we will have a mini book club and read one of their books or short stories during the month.

Level: Confident beginner/Intermediate

Club Fee: Returning members $20.00 and new members $35.00.

Kits: One-time payment of $300.00 (if you pay by Jan 31, 2016, you will receive a 10% discount–$270.00) or quarterly payments of $75.00.

◊Hand Applique Club◊

 

Every Tuesday (except holidays or when notified) – 10 am to Noon

Instructors: Diana Hess

Come join our FREE Hand Applique & Hand Piecing Club. This club is for those who know the basics of hand applique or want to learn to hand piece. This is a great way to improve on your applique skills and spend time appliqueing or hand piecing with good friends. Be sure and bring a notebook to write down all the tips and tricks you will learn. We will work together to improve our applique and hand piecing skills and get our own projects completed.

Level:  Beginner to Expert

◊Creative Stitchery at the Wagon◊

 

2nd Tuesdays, Jan. 12, Feb. 9, Mar 8, & Apr 12th – 1 to 3 pm

Instructor: Marianne Michaels and Diana Hess

Do you love embroidery? Crazy Quilting? Fancy stitches? Sue Spargo? Do you just want to brush up and perfect your skills? Or do you just need some quiet stitching time with friends? Marianne & Diana are available to help participants work on any project and learn some new fancy stitches, including Sue Spargo’s specialty stitches. These have become Marianne’s forte, as well as Crazy Quilt stitching. Bring your wool project, cotton project, Block-of-the-Month project or other favorite project and we’ll help you and provide instruction.

Level: Beginner and Up

◊The Bloom Sew Along Club◊

 

Mondays , Starting January 18th at 11 am – 1 pm

Instructor: Lori Holt’s blog led by Chris Chamberlain at Corn Wagon!

Learn how to use Lori Holt’s ‘Bloom Sew Simple Shapes’ templates by making her beautiful ‘Bloom’ quilt in a sew along starting this month. Chris will help you as you follow along to Lori’s blog with your questions in cutting, sewing, and applique.  Come learn, chat, bring your friends, make new friends and sew. Can it get any better?  Yes!  We have Kits that are available using Lori Holt’s beautiful fabric line ‘Calico Days’.

BLOCKS OF THE MONTH

  

◊Blessed Bee◊

Beginning in March

We are offering a new 12 month wool applique on woven cotton backgrounds block of the Month. “Blessed Bee” is a great pattern by Wooden Spool Design.  This gorgeous quilt measures 48” x 62”.  The picture does not really do justice to this quilt.  Space is limited; so sign up early.  For those who do not live close, we do mail for an additional mailing charge.

Sign-Up Fee: $40 which includes the cost of the pattern

Monthly Block Fee: $23.95 per month this includes the outside borders and binding.

◊ Kindred Spirits ◊

 

October 2015 through March 2016

Join the Kindred Spirits Quilt Club and make a miniature quilt each month using fabric from the Kindred Spirits collection by Jill Shaulis for Windham Fabrics. This club will run for six months. Each month you will receive a pattern and fabric to complete a miniature quilt top and binding. Backing is not included. You will also receive via email a monthly Club Newsletter that will include sewing tips and other things.

Level: Intermediate to advanced.

Fee: $25.99 per month for 6 months (does not include shipping)

These tuffets are soooo much fun!!! Not just to look at, but to make, too. I find myself wanting to make dozens of combinations. Every one of them turns out wonderful.

 ◊ Quilting Basics◊

 

Thursday, Feb. 4th, 11th, & 18th – 5 to 8 pm

Instructor: Chris Chamberlain

Learn basic quilt making skills and make an awesome wall hanging from start to finish. You will learn about rotary cutting, accurate 1/4″ seams, pressing seams and adding borders. You also will learn about batting, making a quilt sandwich, quilting by machine, and binding your quilt. Size: Approx. 36″x36″

Level: Beginner

Fee: $60 (Kits available $34.95 Includes front, back, batting & binding)

Note: There can be a 4th class, if needed, for an additional $20.

Have you ever said, “I LOVE making quilts, it’s picking out the fabrics that I struggle with!” Well, you’re not alone! Join us for 3 hours of instruction, inspiration, and hands-on experience in coordinating fabrics for quilt making. With a background in interior design, Jen Tanner will cover design elements such as pattern, texture, scale & color, color, COLOR. Every quilt is a study in textile selection and coordination. Don’t be afraid to explore the possibilities!

Simple Layer Cake Quilt. This easy quilt is so good to showcase your favorite fabrics.  (Especially large prints!)  This class gives you time to work on your quilt top.  Finished size is 81” x 94”.

Wednesday, March 30th – 5 pm to 8 pm

Instructor: MaryAnn Nelson

Learn how to do quick curved piecing with NO pins! I have discovered a wonderful ruler by Sew Kind of Wonderful. (Fitting name, isn’t it?) It is the Quick Curve Ruler! It cuts curves easily, reduces curved cutting and sewing time and makes curved piecing FUN! We will learn this ruler while making this EASY (I promise) curved pieced and very beautiful ‘Metro Rings’!

◊Beginning Primitive Rug Hooking◊

 

Thursday, April 14 – 3 to 6 pm

Instructor: Marianne Michaels

Learn the art of primitive rug hooking while creating one of these beautiful “rugs.” Your project can be made into a wall hanging, pillow, table topper, or a rug for the floor.

Choose from among a variety of kits available in the shop.

  • Class sizes will be a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 4 students for a class to be held.
  • Class fees must be paid at time of registration. NO REFUNDS! Your spot in a class will not be held unless you have paid. EXCEPTION: Refund or store credit will be given if we cancel the class!
  • A limited number of kits are available for some classes. Kits must be prepaid for at least 7 days in advance of the class.
  • Basic sewing supplies are required in most classes. A supply list will be made available for applicable classes.
  • Classes will start on time.
  • For safety reasons, no children please.

Holiday/Summer Camps for kids and teens held at Corn Wagon Quilt Co. Classes are for 6 years old and older Small class sizes – 8 student maximum $15 per hour, $12.50 w/friend or $10 per student if signed up with 2 or more friends. Weekly, every – other-week, monthly, and on demand classes available Students provide their own fabric and thread and use The Sewing Academy sewing machines and supplies. Special Patterns for Children Sewers Children and teens love to express their creativity by sewing clothing they can wear, and they are learning a valuable life-long skill. You will be delighted how quickly your child can pick up the skills associated with sewing, and have FUN in the process.
