◊Second Wednesday Club◊


2nd Wednesday of each month –Jan 8, Feb 12, Mar 12, April 9, & May 14

The topic for 2014 will be Simplify —focusing on streamlining our quilt piecing and improving our pressing techniques. We will be featuring 2 quilt projects:

Seasonal Stars: This wall quilt or table topper finishes at 46” square. It can be made for any season, for a baby gift, or just use up your stash. This project uses 4 blocks that create a secondary design when assembled and a pieced inner border.

Seasonal Stars

Connect the Stars: This oversized twin is almost full sized, finishing at 78” X 95”. You will have your choice of 4 star blocks, all featuring a secondary design with a simple sashing detail. The fabric choice is up to you —anything goes, from striking two color quilts to scrappy all the way.

2nd WednesdayLevel–Confident beginner /Intermediate

Fee: Returning Members: $20 and New Members $35

For a $34 quarterly fee you will receive a $25 gift certificate for fabric each quarter and the exclusive club patterns.  For a one-time yearly fee of $135 fee you will receive a $100 gift certificate and the exclusive club patterns. You also have the option of patterns only for $35.

◊Hand Applique Club◊


Every Tuesday (except holidays) – 10 am to Noon

Leader: Diana Hess

Come join our FREE Hand Applique Club.  This Club is for those who know the basics hand applique.  This is a great way to improve on your applique skills and spend time appliqueing with good friends. We will have a show and share—we want to see what you are doing!

Be sure and bring a notebook to write down all the tips and tricks you will learn.  We will work together to improve our applique skills and get our own projects completed.

Level:  Beginner to Expert

◊Design Divas Embroidery Club◊


3rd Wednesdays, Jan. 15, Feb. 19, Mar. 19, & Apr. 16 – 6-9 pm

Instructor: Chris Chamberlain

Join us each month for this machine embroidery class. We will be doing projects that will teach (or refresh) you on using the embroidery with your machine. It’s also a great way to see what’s new and fun in the embroidery (and quilting) world!

Level: Beginner on up

Blocks Of The Month

◊Earth N’ Twig◊


Starts January 2014

12 Month Block of the Month Sue Spargo has recently designed a beautiful floral stitch sampler quilt with bright flowers and folk art birds.  This wool appliqué quilt is embellished with a multitude of creative stitches.  Finished size is 47”x 50”.  Pick up your kits monthly or we can mail them to you.  This includes the pattern book, wool, and some harder to find embellishments.  Kits do not include threads.

Level: Intermediate

Fee: $24.99/ month

◊My Wool Crazy Year◊


Saturday, Jan. 25 – 10 am (demo class with tips)

Instructor: Marianne Michaels

Make one of these adorable wool hangings for each month of the year.  Each month you will pick-up or have mailed to you a kit for the next month’s block.  It is a great chance to practice your wool applique and your embellishment stitches.  Threads not included.

A free demonstration class will be held to give you tips on constructing your wool crazy year.

Level: Intermediate

Fee: $25.50 per month for 12 months.

Begins February 1st

Lets have a Round Robin!  This quilt will teach you a variety of skills and techniques of 42 traditional pieced blocks that surround a beautiful appliqued center.  You will love making blocks such as the churn dash, prairie queen, water wheel, spool and bobbin, and Amish Star blocks.  Each month receive wonderful reproduction fabric with cutting and piecing instructions for 3 sweet 6″ finished blocks.  We want to see your finished blocks each month!  Show and share your blocks the next month and we will stamp your Round Robin card for 5% off one item.  Redeem your card then or keep going…adding 5% each month to receive up to 25% off one item.  Redeem your full card of 25% off and we will give you another card to begin again.  No worries, if you don’t finish the next month.  We will stamp your card when and each time you finish your 3 blocks.  We want to see them!  This Block of the Month starts February 1st.  Pay $15.95/month for 12 months.  This includes your fabric and patterns for 3 blocks each month and borders and binding which will be given toward the end of the program.  Your finished quilt size will measure approximately 67″ x 67″.  Want to make it bigger?  Add additional blocks, and fabric to get the 87″ x 87″ size bed quilt.  Instructions for the bigger size are included in the pattern.  (Fabric to make the 87″ x 87″ size bed quilt not included in this BOM.)

Fee: $15.95/month for 12 months.   Add $4.95/ month if we are shipping to you. Additional shipping charge when we ship the border and binding fabric.

Thursday, Feb 20, Feb 27 and Mar 6 — 6-9 pm

Instructor: Chris Chamberlain

Learn basic quilt making skills and make a cute wall hanging from start to finish. You will learn about rotary cutting, accurate 1/4″ seams, pressing seams and adding borders. We also will learn about batting, making a quilt sandwich, quilting by machine, and binding your quilt. Size: Approx. 35″x 35″

◊Cuddle Cob Quilt◊


Saturday, March 22 – 1 to 4 pm

Instructor: Mary Ann Nelson

What is a cuddle cob?  It is a 6 1/2″ strip of pre-cut yummy cuddle or minky fabric.  Take 13 of these wonderful cobs and made a simple and easy lap quilt.  Learn the simple ‘stitch and flip’ or ‘quilt as you go’ method to sew up your snuggle quilt.  Now the fun part… choosing the cuddle cobs.  Choose a Dr. Seuss theme, elegant look, sassy (cheetah print!), fresh modern, school pride colors, or a guy/masculine cuddle quilt. Various cob combinations will make your quilt, your style and your way.  Size of quilt approx. 60″ x 72″.

Level: Strong Beginner (knows how to use a sewing machine and can sew a somewhat straight line) ;)

Thursdays, March 27 and Thursday, April 3 — 6-9 (2-part class)

Instructor: Chris Chamberlain

4″ stars are scattered across this quilt and the appliqué border makes a perfect finish that you can machine, or needle turn appliqué. Make a small version (52″ x 68″) or the complete quilt (84″ x 100″). Makes a great scrappy quilt! Kits are available.

Level: Confident Beginner & up

Wool Embellishment II


Saturday, April 26 – 10 am to 1 pm

Instructor: Marianne Michaels

Learn some more advanced techniques for embellishing your wool projects.  You may choose one of our wonderful wool kits or bring your own project for suggestions.  We will discuss threads, needles, beading, and other techniques.

Holiday/Summer Camps for kids and teens held at Corn Wagon Quilt Co.
Classes are for 6 years old and older
Small class sizes – 8 student maximum
$15 per hour, $12.50 w/friend or $10 per student if signed up with 2 or more friends. Weekly, every – other-week, monthly, and on demand classes available
Students provide their own fabric and thread and use The Sewing Academy sewing machines and supplies.
Special Patterns for Children Sewers
Children and teens love to express their creativity by sewing clothing they can wear, and they are learning a valuable life-long skill. You will be delighted how quickly your child can pick up the skills associated with sewing, and have FUN in the process.

Class Policies
  • Class sizes will be a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 4 students for a class to be held.
  • Class fees must be paid at time of registration. NO REFUNDS! Your spot in a class will not be held unless you have paid. EXCEPTION: Refund or store credit will be given if we cancel the class.
  • A limited number of kits are available for some classes. Kits must be pepaid for at least 7 days in advance of the class.
  • Basic sewing supplies are required in most classes. A supply list will be made available for applicable classes.
  • Classes will start on time.
  • For safety reasons, no children please.
