2025 CLUB: SEWBOTS

Where RETRO meets MOD: SEWBOTS is a club geared toward modern quilts with throwback style. We’ll dial in on 3 quilt projects and meet for an atomically powered sew day once a month, January through December 2025! Join for 6 months or all 12 depending on the projects you’re interested in. SEWBOTS are an intermediate group of modern sewists ready to accelerate through projects that are anything but obsolete!
Every 4th Saturday (except as noted), a monthly demo will begin at 10am then we will sew the day away together at the Schoolhouse until 5pm. Enjoy sewing with a network of friends who appreciate nostalgia as we rewind each month for a flash of the past and fast-forward with the most up-to-date quilting techniques.
For each project, you may choose to purchase the kit for 15% off or you may purchase the pattern only and choose your own fabrics (also 15% off). We also encourage stash busting to make your Sewbots projects truly your own.
January - June 2025: Wensleydale Quilt (NOW CLOSED)

Each month you'll have the chance to earn tickets for our drawing in three ways:

January - June 2025: Daylesford Quilt
For this six-month session, we have decided to work on another favorite design from Jen Kingwell's Quilt Recipes. Jen refers to this quilt as a "choose your own adventure" with several favorite blocks rolled into one medallion-style sampler. The result is one giant log cabin made from solid and scrappy Seminole strips. In Quilt Recipes, Jen says, " I was going to call it 'The Scrappy Log Cabin Medallion Seminole Sampler' but that was a bit long!" We will focus on one or two different block styles per month and work our way outward to complete the 68” x 70” quilt top in December. "You can choose where you place the blocks and how many to include, if any. This will make your quilt uniquely yours."
There will not be a kit offered for this session as the pattern leaves LOTS of room for interpretation and artistic licence. This one will be pure magic made from scraps! If you're choosing your own fabrics, the pattern suggests 7 ? yards - 8 ¾ yards of a variety of prints. It also suggests quarter and half yard cuts work well. You will want full 42” widths to work with for the longer cabin “logs.” Fat quarters or smaller scraps would work well for some of the scrappier blocks. In true Jen Kingwell fashion, there’s a bit of everything mixed in, from prints to wovens, to solids – her unifying element is her soft color palette with a surprise pop of red and a tiny touch of black as shown below.
