BAG CLASS: TULA TOTE



Join Shelley Taylor for two days of instruction and sewing at our Schoolhouse with 2 weeks in between for homework. She'll teach you the best methods for completing the popular Tula Tote! Imagine all that you could pack into this fabulous bag: an assortment of projects or wardrobe for a retreat, or everything your family might need for a day-trip. Designed by Sallie Tomato in collaboration with the talented artist and entrepreneur, Tula Pink, this pattern includes multiple pockets for storage and plenty of d-rings for clip-on accessories to optimize your organizing! 

Tula Tote features zipper top closure, exterior zipper pockets, luggage sleeve, shoulder straps, side strap connectors, adjustable strap, interior pockets and more.

FINISHED SIZE: 23-1/4" wide, 14-1/4" high, and 6-1/4" deep

SUPPLY LIST: Please refer to the back of the pattern for more details on supplies. Fabric yardage is calculated by cutting pieces with the width running selvedge to selvedge. Additional yardage may be need for directional prints that run cut edge to cut edge.

  • Tula Tote Pattern by Sallie Tomato
  • Main Fabric -- 1-1/3 yard of 42" wide fabric
  • Contrast -- 1 yard of 25" - 42" wide material (cork, faux leather or other non-woven recommended)
  • Lining -- 1-5/8 yard of 42" wide fabric
  • Fusible Woven Interfacing -- 4-1/2 yards of 19" wide 
  • Sew-In Foam -- 1-1/2 yards of 28" wide
  • Non-Woven Stabilizer -- 1 yard of 17" wide
  • Heavy Stabilizer -- 2/3 yard of 20" wide Bosal Craf-tex
  • Webbing or Strapping -- 5 yards of 1-1/2" wide
  • Zipper -- #5 single slide zipper
  • Tula Tote Hardware Kit (Metallic Pink) now available. Additional hardware options can be found on the back of the pattern cover. Hardware options will be discussed in class. Your choices may vary from what is shown in our sample.

HELPFUL NOTIONS:

  • 40 wt. polyester thread
  • Sewing clips
  • Pins
  • Chalk pencil or other removable marking utensil
  • Basting tape or glue
  • Stiletto
  • Zipper foot
  • Teflon foot if material requires

Registration fees hold your seat in the class and compensate the instructor for their time and expertise. For this reason all class fees are not refundable for any reason. In the case that the class is cancelled, you will receive a full refund via your payment method or gift card.

Shelley teaches bag classes at several quilt shops and retreats around Utah, including Corn Wagon Quilt Co. She loves to watch students attempt a new technique that they have never tried before, and to see the excitement when they finish a bag they didn't think they could make.
