BAG SERIES: MINKI KIM BAG OF THE MONTH Session 3 July - September

Minki Kim is known for her darling fabric and pattern designs and we're in love with her new bag patterns! So much so that we will be making one a month with guidance from bag-making expert, Shelley Taylor at our Schoolhouse.

Sign up for a three-month session for just $90 and enjoy 3 hours of sewing every 3rd Thursday, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., July - September, with in-person instruction from Shelley. Please note; Minki Kim will not be attending these classes but all projects will feature her patterns.

For our third session we will make an On the Go Bag, a Quilter's Big Tote, and a Backpack.

In this course we will be making the bags as shown by the patterns. Any adjustments you wish to make are your responsibility to plan and sew outside of class.

PLEASE NOTE: Class registration fees are not refundable for any reason. Classes must have a minimum of three students to carry. In the event the class is cancelled, you will be refunded for your class fee with the payment you used or a gift card.

JULY -- ON THE GO BUCKET BAG

FINISHED SIZE:

• Canvas A (linen/cotton blend, or home decor fabric): Fat quarter for exterior
• Canvas B (linen/cotton blend, or home decor fabric): Fat quarter for exterior
• Canvas C (linen/cotton blend, or home decor fabric): 1/2 yard for lining, pocket and drawstring casing
• Woven fusible interfacing: 1yard, such as Pellon SF101
• Cording: two (2) 31’’(79cm)
• Cotton ribbon: 3’’(7.6cm) x 1/2’’(1.3cm) (optional)
• Leather handle: 1 set, approx. 16’’ long *You can find on Amazon or Etsy shop by searching leather handle.
• Safety pin

SUPPLIES:

• cutting mat, ruler, and rotary cutter
• Wonder clips and/or pins
• disappearing fabric marker or fine chalk pen
• small sharp fabric scissors

AUGUST -- QUILTER'S BIG TOTE

FINISHED SIZE: 20’’(51cm) wide x 16” (41cm) high x 6’’(15cm)deep
MATERIALS:

Quilter's Big Tote pattern by Minki Kim available at Corn Wagon
20 assorted dark prints: 10’’(25cm) squares
20 assorted white prints: 10’’(25cm) squares
Dark print fabric: fat quarter for bottom panel and binding
Lining: 1 yard
Foam stabilizer: 1 yard, such as Soft and Stable or Pellon Flex Foam or Bosal In-R-Form
Strapping: 1 1/2’’(4cm) - 2 yards, such as Polypro strapping or cotton webbing

Basic sewing supplies, walking foot and 1/4’’(6mm) foot
Fabric glue, such as Roxanne's Glue-Baste-It

YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE ALL OF THE PATCHWORK FINISHED FOR THE OUTSIDE OF THE BAG BEFORE CLASS OR YOU MAY CHOOSE TO USE A SOLID PIECE OF FABRIC USING THE YARDAGE REQUIREMENTS BELOW.
