At the Corn Wagon we are always in search of new inspiration, new things to learn and new ways of creating! To quote Nicholas Meyer, "Art doesn't just happen by accident. It's about pulling out new tricks and trying new things." Perhaps against my better judgement, I signed up for not one but two sampler style block-of-the-month clubs. Yes, it's been lots of work, but I have found so much joy in learning many new techniques. My confidence has grown as well as my efficiency. The best part; I have two quilts approaching the finishing stages that will be a reminder to me of the new things I learned and the benefits of stretching my skills and creativity! What drove me to this undertaking? Well, of course it was the sight of gorgeous new fabrics and inspiring finished quilts. We've all experienced the I. MUST. MAKE. THAT. feeling. Often our customers pop in the shop simply to be surrounded by the textile wonders that fill it's walls claiming, "I just had a moment and needed my creative fix." We want to know what has sparked your interest as of late. What has you motivated to learn more about the art of quilt-making? What techniques have you been itching to try? Which designers or project types inspire you most. We encourage you to take a quick minute to contact us through our website and tell us what you would like to see more of at our store, specifically, what you would like to learn through classes, demos or trunk shows. Or stop by and share with one of our employees what you would be interested in. Our hope is to bring education opportunities that will build your confidence and stretch your imagination.
I definitely got the I. MUST. MAKE. THAT. feeling when Marianne Michaels finished this stunning Octagon Shimmer quilt by Jennifer Sampou. Aptly named, this quilt mimics reflected light with it's modern angles and hues. Marianne made excellent use of low volume fabrics mixed with colorful scraps. Zoom in and take a look at the incredible custom machine quilting by Emily Herrick. Kits are in the making! In the mean time, you can find a PDF pattern for purchase on the designer's website, jennifersampou.com
Only a few short days left to get in on the machine quilting motif-of-the-month special.
