At our house we are overjoyed as we stand on the threshold of summer vacation. Rushing to and from end-of-year events supporting our children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors, we can't help but feel the anticipation of a hard earned season of play. Of course with all the "free-time" comes the challenge of finding activities to keep those brilliant brains engaged. We have a fun option for the younger crowd interested in developing their sewing skills. Camp Sew Fun is a three day sewing class for kids here at the Corn Wagon! Taught by Chris Chamberlain, your budding sewist will have the chance to hone their skills under the guidance of an expert seamstress. They will start by making simple, large 9-patch blocks, then they'll cut them into quarters and reposition them to into new blocks. You can change the pattern of your quilt in the way you choose to lay out your blocks! Kids will have a great time playing with the design and really making this quilt their own. Our hope is to help them develop a love for sewing while finishing their own 49” x 62” quilt top and binding while in the class. If the class fills up, we will schedule a second session! Kits are available to purchase separately on a first come, first serve basis or we can help you chose your own fabrics here at the shop. Chris put together this adorable sample to get their creative wheels turning. She chose a layer cake (10" square precuts) of the Coco collection by Chez Moi of Moda. Arranging these pastel paisleys and florals in a gradient spectrum is a fun twist! To finish the project perfectly, Ramona Sorensen machine quilted an edge-to-edge paisley motif using pastel variegated thread. Give your children and grandchildren a summer activity that will build confidence while having fun with a blossoming new skill. Registration is now open on our website or stop in and let us show you this cute project in person. Let the summer sewing fun begin!
