What's in the forecast for this Christmas?

Is it ever too soon for Santa to start sewing? Christmas collections have arrived here at the Corn Wagon so you can get a holly, jolly, jump start on your gift list. What trends are in the forecast for the 2019 holiday season? Some true classics! With the vintage farmhouse look still going strong, we are seeing lots of creamy whites accented with black. Weathered woods, warm metallics and earthy inspirations are abundant. Green is big on the scene with very natural hues this year in shades ranging from blue spruce and silvery sage to deep emeralds and evergreens. This year's look has been described as "Mother Nature meets Father Christmas." Expect to see patterns inspired by nature; fir trees, holly berries, magnolia branches, woodland animals, snowflakes, stars and feathers. Simple, clean lines have replaced ornate details. Wood grain has replaced glitter. The look is fresh yet grounded, clam and serene. Scrolling text and buffalo checks are two motifs that continue to make a statement while Santa and Frosty continue to appear in nostalgic, vintage form.

New holiday collections have just arrived including:
Merry Starts Here by Sweetwater
Winterberry by My Minds Eye
Snow Fun by Cori Dantini
Little Tree by Lella Boutique
Sweet Christmas by Urban Chiks
Buttermilk Winter by Buttermilk Basin
Snowy Wishes by local designer Jennifer Pugh!

Little Tree is a highly anticipated holiday collection by Lella Boutique. A traditional poinsettia print plays well with basics such as simple stripes, bay leaves, ribbon-like text and, of course, little trees. The highlight of this collection is this wonderful 56" x 74" digital panel! Emily Herrick backed it with beautiful red Cuddle fabric and really made it shine with her custom quilting.

Merry Starts Here! Every year we look forward to seeing what Sweetwater Fabrics comes up with for Christmas and once again we are delighted with their designs! Oversized gingham and polka dots pair playfully with Sweetwater's signature text prints for a dashing way to welcome the season. Shannon White chose this collection to piece her favorite quick and easy throw quilt pattern inspired by an online tutorial found at tracysbitsnpieces.blogspot.com  We have yardage and pre-cuts and kits are in the making!

   Saturday Sampler Sneak Peek!
The time has come for the BIG REVEAL! Tomorrow, Saturday July 13th, is the grand finale for our first Saturday Sampler mystery quilt by Amy McClellan! Those participating have put in many sewing hours over the past 12 months and had the chance to hone quilting skills through a variety of techniques. We can hardly wait to show you the finished quilt so I had to sneak in this little peek! Doors open at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow for those registered in this mystery block of the month. Check in at the shop as usual to pick up your last block kit for $5.50 (or for free if you are present with last months assignment complete). Our mystery quilt reveal and block demo will take place in our School House located directly behind the quilt shop at the new Corn Wagon Too. First demo begins at 9:15 a.m. and repeats every 30 minutes. Last demo begins at 12:45 p.m. You will then have the chance to purchase a finishing kit as shown in our finished quilt reveal for $38.99. If you can't make it this Saturday, don't worry, we have plenty of finishing kits!  We will also have some great backing options for you to chose from. Purchase the Saturday Sampler backing of your choice before July 31st  for 20% off using this month's exclusive coupon! We hope you've loved this project as much as we've loved having you take part.
