For the Love of Fabric: Loads of new fabric to fall in love with.

Oh, for the love of Fabric! My passion for the stuff runs deep. Thus lies the eternal question, was it in my nature or through nurture? Textiles have always held my attention with their color, pattern and texture. Born to a mother who finds joy in sewing and knitting, I was surrounded by it through my growing years. I knew from a very young age I wanted to work in the interior design industry and so immersed myself in the history and beauty of textiles. In college, my textile and weaving classes were among my favorites where I learned first hand how fabrics are literally woven into culture and industry world wide throughout the ages. Fast forward a bit through some (stressful) years as an interior designer and here I find myself in a career consumed by the love of fabric at my favorite local quilt shop. Pinch me! It's a dream come true! One of my favorite parts, as you might imagine, is seeing what's up and coming. I have the honor of meeting with fabric reps who reveal new collections each season. I love learning about new textile processes (have you felt the new bamboo rayon baby flannels or seen the depth of digital fabric printing? It's getting better all the time). The hard part? I want it ALL! It's a challenge narrowing down the choices for our shop. What will everyone want six-eight months from now (did you know we've already purchased Christmas fabric for 2020!? It will start arriving in May). What provides the most variety to our local makers? What's essential? What's unique? We want to be sure we have something for everyone, yet it seems there is never enough room. The bi-annual Quilt Market just wrapped up and boy have we been overwhelmed with incredible new options! New fabrics are arriving daily so we've been doing a bit (ok - - a lot) of rearranging to make room. It's an endless process but I have a feeling I'm not the only one here who is never disappointed to see MORE FABRIC!
New to the shop, the wagon (appropriate, don't you think?) where you'll always find our latest arrivals! It is currently filled with gorgeous spring collections from Corey Yoder and Robin Pickens of Moda Fabrics and Amy Smart of Riley Blake Designs. You'll also find the prettiest new sewing room must-haves and kits! If you look closely, in the background you'll notice the latest from Bonnie and Camille, Early Bird as well as Fig Tree & Co's new Scarlet and Sage collection shown in detail below. Fabrics from these designers fly off the shelves so stop in for some yardage while it's still available!

Tilda designs by Tone Finnanger... Every time we're shown a new Tilda collection, we gasp in delight. Must have. They're a no brainer and it's not just her fabrics... her doll designs are the absolute cutest and they come as kits! Oh, her quilts are to die for! And her books are coffee table worthy. The latest Tilda collection, Old Rose, has arrived in it's entirety as have these adorable doll kits, Autumn Angel, Angel Mouse and my favorite, Pajama Santa!
Let's talk about this Tilda quilt currently hanging front and center at the shop. The Plum Party Quilt features autumn angels with their bountiful plum harvest in the most dreamy color palette. That blue background is perfection! We have kits! Suzanne Adams pieced this little darling and made the dolls to match! Now let's take a close look at the custom machine quilting by Emily Herrick. She has detailed each angel individually and filled in with her own brand of graffiti quilting. The result is jaw-dropping. You really must see this one in person.

Stepping over to our wool room, you'll find every inch covered in fabulous wool projects, cozy flannels and homespun cottons. When I say every inch, they're even hanging from the rafters! Your eye can't help but move toward the ceiling where you'll find this new wool applique beauty made by Marianne Michaels hanging from our big brass bed. Houses on the Hill is one of several projects you'll find in Erica Kaprow's book, Wild Wool and Colorful Cotton Quilts. Marianne has put together beautiful kits for you!
