Beginning Quilting Class is Back! Plus - another bundle Curated by Corn Wagon!

It's time to introduce another Corn Wagon gal along with her Lucky 13 fat quarter bundle! Have you met Julie yet? She's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. You have most likely seen her sparkly smile at our register or hosting our Facebook Live Sales. Julie Hancock has worked here at the quilt shop for about two-and-a-half years now but she has been our quilting friend much longer! When I asked her how long she's been making quilts, she said her first quilt was a pink gingham baby quilt that she tied when she was fifteen. It just so happened that her first baby was indeed a girl who used that sweet quilt and Julie still has it in her possession today. But her real quilting addiction began when she took a beginning quilting class many years ago from Mary Jacobsen here at the Corn Wagon. They're still dear friends who sew together whenever they can. Julie loves all things pink, has an affinity for glitter and is fueled by Diet Coke (which her handsome husband is known to deliver)! Her favorite quilt block is Swoon and she guesses she's made around 35 quilts... Don't ask how many she has started and not finished. ???? Her sewing room is definitely her happy place (how adorable is her pink sewing machine clock?!). Disneyland with her family, (including 6.75 grandchildren) is a close second. Speaking of grandchildren, Julie makes each a quilt when they are born, then another when they turn eight and we're willing to bet they'll get another when they graduate. Julie's Lucky 13 is a perfect reflection of her friendly personality. Sunny florals in bright happy colors (including PINK) are Julie to a T! Pick up this limited edition fat quarter bundle curated by Corn Wagon while supplies last and be sure to say hello to our beautiful friend Julie while you're here!

Remember this classic beauty? Many of you have asked if we will be offering this Beginning Quilting class again. We're excited to add another session starting August 14th! Taught by seasoned quilter, Janet Hansen, this 8-part, 4-month class will teach and reinforce the basics of piecing a quilt! We will start from the beginning with cutting skills and accurate seam measurement. There will be eight different quilt blocks taught during the class, each with it's own unique techniques. You will make one block each week in class with teacher supervision, then more of the same block will be made at home as practice to perfect your skills. If you have never pieced a quilt, this class is for you!

If you have quilted for some time and would like to learn many tips and tricks to make your piecing more accurate, this is also the class for you! It is an enjoyable hands-on experience. When finished, you will have a beautiful 72" x 84" sampler quilt made from 42 traditional quilt blocks. This pattern has been designed by Janet exclusively for this class series! We chose to highlight the Vintage Farmhouse look by choosing a simple black, cream and grey scheme (shown above) using only three different fabrics from the Urban Farmhouse Gatherings collection by Primitive Gatherings. A limited number of kits will be available for $119.99 only to those who register for the Beginning Quilting Class OR class members can  choose their own fabrics, creating a unique masterpiece showcasing their new skills.

This class will be held on the first and third Friday's of the month in the mornings (10-Noon). Please note; this is not a children's quilting class. Attendees must be 16 or older and familiar with their sewing machine. Please visit our website for complete details, a supply list and to register or come see this quilt in person and register at the shop!

And now for something entirely new from instructor, Janet Hansen, Stitch Me a Rainbow is a class for anyone who wants to have fun with color! The rainbow design of this70" x 90" quilt is highlighted with beautiful ombre fabrics that make stunning gradated blocks. In this class you will learn how to use Thangles to make perfect half square triangles then configure them in a variety of different block designs. Any skill level is invited. Kits are available to purchase for those registered for the class featuring Ombre Bloom fabrics by V & Co. like those in the sample quilt pictured. You will get to personalize your rainbow quilt with 1 1/2 yards of your favorite color for border fabric not included in the kit. Binding is made using your rainbow scraps of ombre for a full-spectrum finish!  We all need a little color to brighten our day! $45.00 class fee includes three class sessions here at our School House. Supplies purchased separately. Register now by clicking here.
