Time for our 1st Curated by Corn Wagon Bundle of 2021; Meet Emily Herrick!

It's time to introduce another Corn Wagon Gal and her Curated by Corn Wagon fat quarter bundle! If you haven't already met her, may I introduce you to Emily Herrick? Emily has been a friend at the Wagon for the past 18 years as she has navigated a successful career in the world of quilting. When did her love of sewing begin? She's always had a creative streak "making stuff" as a kid. A wonderful neighbor, you might call her an adoptive grandmother, was influential to Emily's "crafty" nature. Emily also took inspiration from her mother who often sewed clothes for her. She was 12 when her own interest in sewing took root as she recalls putting her mind to making a plaid pleated skit. Emily despised following patterns but for this particular project, her mother insisted she would need one. Her mother left for the store saying, " Don't start sewing until I get home with a pattern." If you know Emily, you likely guessed that she went right to work folding and fitting pleats to plaid. Emily figured out her own method and the skirt was finished before her mom got home. Quilting just works with the way Emily's brain does math. It was a natural fit for a girl whose mind enjoys working out the details of piecing fabric together. She has vision and the artistic ability to bring those ideas to life.

Emily began designing and selling quilt patterns under the name Crazy Old Ladies. As she delved deeper into her hobby she was impressed by designers such as Robyn Pandolph and Nancy Halvorsen. She remembers cutting into fabric and thinking, "Man, wouldn't it be awesome to have my name on the selvedge of that fabric?" It wasn't long before she was designing her own collections for Michael Miller Fabrics including, Hall of Fame, Shore Thing, Rustique and Sodalicious. Eight collections later, she was ready to shift gears and investigate another avenue of the quilting world, free-motion machine quilting. We consider ourselves lucky to have Emily adding her own brand of creativity to our custom quilting services! Emily's got talent, experience and personality that brings inspiration wherever she goes.

Emily Herrick curated this delightful bundle of 13 fat quarters for our newest Curated by Corn Wagon bundle. Using two surf inspired fabrics from Heather Ross's new Malibu collection as a spring board, Emily pulled together shades of sun, sea and coral in a variety of happy prints. It's a playful nod to Emily's California upbringing and a fresh combination looking forward to sunny days ahead. You can pick up Emily's bundle while supplies last at the quilt shop for $39.99! Be sure to give Emily a holler while you're here!
