Meet another Corn Wagon Gal! + Last MInute Valentines! XOXO

She's a familiar face in our sewing community, but have you officially been introduced to Chris Chamberlain? It's time to meet another Corn Wagon Gal! Chris has true passion for quilting and experience in the industry that makes her a quilter extraordinaire! How did it all begin? In a dairy and fabric store in Hurricane, Utah. As a teenager, Chris got her start making quilts at a store where customers enjoyed the one-stop convenience of picking up a gallon of milk and fabric for a new dress. She started with baby quilts and made more than ten by the time she was married. She has always loved babies and to this day, can't resist anything "baby." While she may have worked for a dairy, she has never milked a cow so don't ask for tips. You may, however, ask her nearly anything about sewing and I'll bet she'll have an answer for you. Here she is with one of her eleven grand babies. I bet they each have a quilt (or two) from their grandma!

Chris went on to spend ten years as a seamstress in the interior design industry. Designers would send her their plans and she would bring them to life, sewing custom window coverings and bedding. Ready for a change of pace, Chris welcomed a job offer from our friends at Dave's Bernina where she spent the next seventeen years playing with sewing machines. She had the privilege of attending Bernina University where she graduated with honors at the top of her class (wink, wink). She loved working there and adores their machines. That's when she really got into quilting!

The next obvious migration was to work at a quilt shop. We're lucky she landed at The Wagon! Chris has worked in nearly all of our departments including our custom services such as hemstitching and machine quilting. She's an experienced instructor for adults and children and the leader of our Saturday Sampler Program. Chris is currently the office manager here at the quilt shop.
When asked if she has a "favorite" in the world of quilting, she didn't hesitate. Laundry Basket Quilts by Edyta Sitar always appeal to her and she has made several of their designs including the show winner above.

For her own unique Curated by Corn Wagon fat quarter bundle, Chris drew inspiration from an eye catching sticker by Maker Valley featuring a rainbow of vibrant color that speaks to makers every where. This set of thirteen fat quarters is a mix of small prints and basics in a modern spectrum of happy color. The newest addition to the Curated by Corn Wagon collection can be yours for just $39.99 while supplies last in-store. Be sure to shout hello to Chris while you're here!

   Mini Poppins Bag Class
Thursday, February 18th, 1:00-6:00
Just a few seats left for our next Mini Poppins Bag class!  The Mini Poppins Bag (in all it's mini cuteness) takes minimal fabric, which makes this project a great stash buster! The secret to this bag are the structural stays that come with the pattern by Aunties Two, which help keep the bag's shape. The Mini Poppins Bag has a double zipper opening for easy access. You'll love learning new bag techniques with Shelley Taylor at our School House Register not online or in-store! $45 Class Fee. Pattern and supplies sold separately and are available at the quilt shop.

The newest pillow of the month has arrived and once again, they're going fast! Natalie Smith designed this perfectly sweet and simple heart block for the month of February. Look closely at the hand stitching she added around the outside of the heart. I'm telling you, she has the magic touch! This kit includes the pattern by ella + charming and fabrics to sew the 18" x 18" pillow front and back. Insert and optional zipper not included. Remember: this is NOT a block of the month. No registration is needed! This means kits are available first come, first served and when they're gone, they're GONE so don't wait!

We were so overwhelmed by your interest last month (thank you!) that we decided to try something new! This darling series of pillow of the month patterns will be available to purchase as a PDF from our website for $4.99 each! You'll only find them at cornwagonquilts.com (under "Shop Online") and we'll release a new one every month during 2021. Previous month's patterns will remain available as long as we have interest so spread the word and start collecting! To purchase a PDF for the February Pillow Cover or for the January Pillow Cover, click here.

P.S. That cute "love" sign and conversation heart can be found at the Quilter's Merc along with more Valentines fun!

This next note is for all the guys out there... Do you speak your sweetheart's language of love? We do! The Valentine's gift that's guaranteed to make their heart pitter patter isn't chocolate... or flowers... IT'S FABRIC! A gift card to the Corn Wagon is the perfect expression of true love and you still have time to snag one before the big day! Stop by the shop and we'll set you up or, even easier, you can purchase a gift card from our website homepage (once you're there, scroll all the way to the bottom) without even leaving the house! Ladies, go ahead and forward this email to your fella! Happy Valentines Day! XOXO

...And this one's for the kiddos! Oh, how much fun your little sweethearts will have adding velcro stamps and delivering love notes to this adorable mailbox! It's another clever panel designed by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda. Panel comes with instructions and all the printed graphics to cut & sew this complete set. It sews together quick enough to be an overnight delivery for a special little Valentine! Pick one up while supplies last for $35.99. My favorite part, "Hugs and Kisses Required Upon Delivery."
