47th Annual Utah Quilt Show at the Springville Museum of Art

It's a Utah Tradition we're proud to support;
the annual Utah Quilt Show presented by the Springville Museum of Art and the Utah Valley Quilt Guild opens tomorrow. This juried exhibition features quilts of all styles and sizes, created by some of the State’s finest quilters and it's conveniently located just two blocks from the Corn Wagon. More quilts were submitted this year than ever before resulting in one of the most competitive shows to date. More than 100 quilted masterpieces will grace the walls of the museum through September 18, 2021. You are invited to attend the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony in person or virtually via Zoom Meeting (link provided at smofa.org) tomorrow, Saturday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. Mountain Time. Principal criteria in quilt admission and judging is based on "quality in workmanship, design, color, originality, and general appeal." The attention to detail is exquisite. You'll see quilts of all styles, from traditional to modern, hand pieced and quilted to machine appliqued thread art. You'll even see one made of flower petals! It's textile art at it's finest. Each year we stand in awe at the talent showcased and come away with newfound inspiration but the best part is celebrating so names and faces familiar to our local quilting community.

Karen Averett spotted this beautiful La Jolla Tide Pools quilt in Quiltmania magazine Issue #134 and accepted the challenge to reproduce it. We were thrilled when she was also willing to put together kits for us! This 73" x 93" heirloom style quilt is a labor of love that is oh, so worth it! Kits include fabrics for piecing the top and binding as shown above, as well as the magazine featuring this beautiful design by Karen Whittmeyer. Ramona Sorensen's custom machine quilting adds the perfect finishing touch.

This garden inspired ray of sunshine is here to welcome you into the quilt shop. Lynette Christensen built on a floral filled collection by Sue Daley to piece the top of this 64" x 84" quilt titled Primrose. Stems and leaves at the top and bottom of each flower chain are a unique touch. You'll find this versatile pattern in one of our favorite books, Fat Quarter Style by It's Sew Emma. Once again, Ramona Sorensen's custom quilting brings this garden to life. Pick up a kit and book in-store while supplies last!
