SEW much going on in Utah County for QUILTERS this weekend!

If you're wondering how to spend your weekend and you happen to be near Utah County, there's no shortage of quilting goodness going on! The real question here is, where to begin? I plan to fit in a little bit of everything! Here's my weekend itinerary:

1. A walk through the Garden of Quilts at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi
2. A stroll through the Utah Quilt Show at the Springville Museum of Art
3. Celebrate National Sew a Jelly Roll Day at the Corn Wagon Retreat
4. Visit and support all my favorite local quilt shops along the way

Can it be done? You bet it can! And it will all be done with the best of sewing friends.

First Stop: the annual Garden of Quilts at Thanksgiving Point. A walk through the Ashton Gardens is a feast for the senses any day of the week but there's nothing quite like seeing the gardens layered with quilts of all kinds. 50 acres of stunning landscape filled with hundreds of quilts! They're hanging from the trees, arbors, gazebos, everywhere you look they are floating in the breeze. You'll also find vendors and trunk shows along the garden path. It's an exhibit every quilter should experience and it's going on right now! Purchase your tickets from and head out to the Ashton Gardens today or tomorrow, September 16th and 17th. You won't be disappointed!

Next Stop: The 48th Annual Utah Quilt Show at the Springville Museum of Art is in it's final weekend. Just a 25 minute drive from the Garden of Quilts (and only two blocks from us!) you can catch Utah's largest juried quilt show right here in Springville, Utah. Take a stroll through this historic art museum and be inspired by over 100 entries by Utah quilt makers. Only two days left to catch this year's masterpieces. Take 30 minutes or a few hours and soak in the beauty of textile art today or tomorrow, September 16th and 17th, 10am-5pm. No admission fee. Donations appreciated.

Final Destination: Project Jelly Roll, right here at the Corn Wagon! I'll be rounding out the weekend with a day of sewing Jelly Rolls at our retreat center. You can too! We have just a few seats left for tomorrow, September 17th -- It's National Sew a Jelly Roll Day! Bring a lunch and sew the day away, 10am-5pm. We'll serve up a jelly roll dessert, have a contest where one lucky quilter will take home a free Jelly Roll of their choice, and have free Jelly Roll patterns from Moda! Register now on our website. If you can't join us at the retreat, we hope you'll celebrate from your own sewing room by dusting off a Jelly Roll from your stash and sewing up something wonderful. The quilt below, Cross the Line, is one of four of our favorite free Jelly Roll pdf patterns by Moda, available now on our website!

We have opened a few last minute vendor stalls so if you were on the fence about selling some of your S.A.B.L.E. now's your chance to jump in! Reserve a vendor stall for $25 online before they're full. You can even team up with your quilting BFF and vend together!
S.A.B.L.E. SHOPPERS GET READY! Find fabric, food trucks and FUN in our parking lot Saturday, September 24!

We've added a new round of bag classes to our schedule! Shelley Taylor is an award-winning teacher and bag-making extraordinaire. Shelley teaches bag classes at several quilt shops and retreats around Utah, including Corn Wagon Quilt Co. She loves to watch students attempt a new technique that they have never tried before, and to see the excitement when they finish a bag they didn't think they could make. Check out a few of our classes with Shelley and enjoy the journey of bag making. You'll be surprised how quickly you can become a fellow Bagineer! As always, you can view class supply lists and register online. Class supplies listed are 15% off for class members. BONUS: you can enjoy 15% off all regular price purchases while here for class by wearing a Schoolhouse lanyard into the quilt shop!

Grab your pattern from Minki Kim (here) and come make the Clearly Trixie Pouch at the Schoolhouse! Shelley Taylor will lead this class and teach you all the tips and tricks to sewing with vinyl and making bags. The clever pouch above is just perfect for EPP or hand-stitching supplies, spools of thread, or any cute little things and you'll never have to guess what's inside. Choose to attend a morning or evening class! Register now for Thurs, Sept. 22nd, 10am to 1pm or for Thurs, Sept. 29th, 5pm to 8pm.

You've seen this bag on Instagram -- it's the cutest little pouch for traveling with your sewing supplies or toiletries! The fun boxy bag above has finished edges and no curved seams -- perfect for a beginning bag-maker. The Holland Pouch pattern by Center Street Quilts has three size options, each of which only uses three fat quarters of fabric. The pattern includes full color, step-by-step graphics walking you through every step of creating your pouch, plus extra instructions for using directional fabric (we don't want any upside down prints now, do we?) Choose a daytime or evening class, Wed, Oct 5, 5pm to 8pm or Thu, Oct 6, 1pm to 4pm at the Schoolhouse.

Make the Night & Day Mini Tote at our Schoolhouse Saturday, October 22, 10:00-3:00. Learn some great sewing skills including working with interfacing, making straps and adding an interior zipper pocket from a professional! Bonus: this functional little tote can be reversible for two fun looks: a quilted side or a non-quilted side with a welt pocket! It's another great design from Patterns by Annie.  We would love to help you collect your class supplies and choose your own unique fabric combo.

This fun-to-make Sidesaddle Pouch by Aneela Hoey is sturdy with a spacious, box-shaped interior.  The zipper allows it to open into a wide basket shape when the pouch is in use.  There are two zippered pockets -- one each side of the pouch that will hold lots of additional tools and supplies. The construction is a little tricky, so joining our expert Shelley Taylor is a must for this fun and useful pouch. Sign up and meet us at the Schoolhouse Thu, Nov 10, Noon to 5 pm.
