Gifts from and for Quilters? We've got 'em!

Christmas doesn't need to be complicated. Keep it simple, meaningful and from the heart. Christmas will come filled with joy whether everything on your to-do list is finished or not so take a deep breath (is that fresh pine I smell?), look for the light (it's all around!) and do what matters most (GIVE LOVE).
That being said, we know quilters are prone to giving handmade gifts and let's face it, it's not always a simple process -- a labor of love to be sure! We're here to help with supplies, last minute needs and great gift ideas. We're even still accepting a few more quilts for machine quilting before Christmas! Ask for Ramona's hand-guided quilting and she'll work her magic while there's room in the quilting queue. Spaces won't last long so finish up that quilt top and bring it in asap!

Today I'm taking a break from the Christmas rush and heading out for a walk in a true winter wonderland. With all the glorious, glittering snow surrounding us here in Springville, Utah, I'll be pulling on my boots, zipping up my winter coat... mustn't forget my hat and mittens! I only wish they were as cute as those in the Cold Front quilt above! Shannon White used traditional piecing methods to make this fat quarter friendly quilt by Wren Collective. Using Jolly Basics by Ruby Star Society makes mittens that remind me of those I had as a child; a winter essential for building snowmen, sledding and winning snowball fights! Machine quilting by Ramona Sorensen is just right for this 64" x 73" modern, winter quilt. Kits are available in store and online for $127.99. Wouldn't the Kris Kringle quilt (above, right) featured in last weeks newsletter be a perfect match for the mittens? We have just a couple of those great kits left in-store!

This little fella is all tuckered out and ready for a good night's sleep in his Christmas striped pajamas. Make this cute 12" stuffy using a simple Doll DIY Kit by Hello! Lucky. Precut knit fabric pieces come with interfacing attached and machine embroidery complete. All you need to do is sew the pieces together, add the stuffing (not included) and Panda is ready to snuggle! Kit by Hello! Lucky for Robert Kaufman Fabrics. Project recommended for ages 14+. The kit would make an awesome gift for a budding sewist or whip one up as a gift appropriate for ages 0-99!

For a handmade gift with unique sophistication, try making these wonderful wool ornaments! Marianne Michaels embellished felted wool balls with wool circles, embroidery stitches and beading and the result is reminiscent of an Olde World Christmas. She has put together Starter Kits that include the Wool Bead Ornaments pattern by Ewe-niversity as well as 6 felted wool balls, string for hanging, felted wool pieces for embellishment, and an assortment of beads and baubles for $56.99! You'll find them online and in store while supplies last. Embellishment threads not included. Additional felted balls and other supplies are available at the shop. Designer, Susan M. Wojciechowski describes them as Stitch Samplers in the Round. Each ornament is sure to be one of a kind!

From Buttermilk Basin, Noel Pillows add hand-stitched nostalgia to holiday decor. Vicki Wood made this daring set a wee bit smaller than the pattern suggests, so they're an ideal size for the mantle. Our kit includes cottons for pillow body and wool for applique to make a set of four 7" Noel Pillows for $33.99.

The gift ideas just keep coming! New to our stitchery department; we just received some really fun seasonal Cross Stitch patterns from Shepherds Bush. They're designed to decorate the popular Mesh Project Bags by It's Sew Emma (we have some at the shop)! These generously sized pouches with a zippered top and gusseted bottom were already one of our favorites but these Cross Stitch patterns take them to the next level! Choose from 5 different seasonal patterns online or in-store then fill'er up with all your favorite supplies or keep your current project organized and at the ready!

Stitch up sweet little needlebooks for all your quilting freinds to keep in their bag. The Littles Needlebook pattern designed by Under the Garden Moon includes instruction to make 4 different needlebooks with wool applique designs: Beehive with flag, Sheep with sunflower, Bunny with flower, and Bird with flower. Each Needlebook finishes approximately 3" x 3 1/2". The pattern has been so popular that we've put together kits for each individual style and they're now available in-store and online!

Classes make great gifts too! For yourself or a friend, register for one of our exciting new classes now on the schedule for 2023! New to the calendar this week; Be My Valentine EasyPiecing Grid Class with instructor Heather Dunn is scheduled for Jan 30, and Feb 6, 2023 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the Schoolhouse. You get to choose from EIGHT different Valentine EasyPiecing projects! Heather will have all patterns for sale individually on the date of class.
