Back to School for Quilter's too? You Bet!

Learn Something New at Corn Wagon Too!

Kids aren't the only ones collecting supplies for back-to-school. Quilter's are pulling fabrics, and packing their sewing bags for classes and events at our Schoolhouse. Visit our online class list regularly to fill your schedule with the best sewing instruction around! See project pics, supply lists, instructor bios and register from the comfort of your own home when you visit Click "calendar" for a brief summary of what's coming up or "classes" for full details. We want to see YOU back-to-school at Corn Wagon Too!

Let me introduce you to three of our upcoming opportunities:

PROJECT: Jelly Roll

The 3rd Saturday in September has officially been designated as National Sew A Jelly Roll Day to encourage collectors to tear open a Jelly Roll and make something for themselves, as a gift or for charity! As a quilter you likely have purchased those pretty 2-1/2" pre-cuts without knowing exactly what you will make. As lovely as they are all packaged up, they end up on our shelves just waiting for the right project. Enter PROJECT: Jelly Roll, the annual event created to give you the perfect opportunity to turn that Jelly Roll into something wonderful!  It can be a quilt or a tote bag, a pillowcase or something to wear, it doesn’t matter so long as we seize the day and celebrate the joy of being a maker.  Grab a Jelly Roll from your shelf, dust it off, choose a project and sew with us here at Corn Wagon Quilt Co. Saturday, September 16th, 10:00am - 5:00pm in our beautiful retreat center! Please bring a lunch or take a break to go grab a bite locally. Not sure what project to choose? Check out four of our favorite Jelly Roll patterns available as free downloads from our website (click here) and be sure to check out our full selection at the shop!

Choose-Your-Size Poppins Bag

Another chance to learn how to make the most popular bag in the sewing world!

Thursday, August 31st, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Poppins Bag in the Little and Mini sizes are both so darling and fun to make! Structural stays, included in the pattern, plus Bosal In-R-Form (double-sided fusible foam) help keep its shape. Pockets inside store supplies for a sewing day with friends or a fun purse for everyday use. You can choose between the Little Poppins Bag, the best handbag size, or the Mini Poppins Bag, a great tiny tote or lunch bag. Come learn some bag-making techniques you have likely never tried before from the expert, Shelley Taylor!

Cake Mix Quilt Class

It's a delectable way to make quilts! Learn how to follow Cake Mix Recipes for block pieces that make stirring up a Layer Cake quilt easier than ever. This unique triangle paper was designed by Miss Rosie for use with 10" or 5" precuts and the results are precise pieces that can be configured into a wide variety of delicious quilts.

Join Jen and Lexi for an exciting 30 minute Cake Mix & Cupcake Mix demonstration where we will take you through the process from beginning to end. Then we'll spend the remaining 2 1/2 hours practicing at the sewing machine. You'll come away with a few finished blocks to get you started on a scrumptious Cake Mix Quilt of your choice!

If you've always wanted to try Cake Mix or Cupcake Mix papers but didn't know how to start OR if you love the look of triangles but not the fussy sewing, try mixing it up. It's a recipe for success!

BONUS: Real cupcake included!

Friday, September 1st, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

To help you get started, we have kits available for the cute Cupcake Baby Quilt below!
