Let the summer celebrations begin! Springville opens the season annually with Art City Days, going on now! Our hometown is all abuzz with fun festivities. If you happen to be in Utah County this weekend, don't miss the Art City Days Quilt Show on display Friday until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the gym behind the Art Museum, 485 S. 200 E., Springville. Come see fantastic quilts by local makers of all ages and skill levels! Many thanks to our friends, Cathie Erickson and Heidi Prothero for organizing this year's event!
Because our shop is along the Art City Days Grand Parade route, we will open later than usual, at noon tomorrow, Saturday June 8th. This will affect Saturday Sampler pickup. Please plan accordingly and help us spread the word.
Looking forward to Star-Spangled fun for everyone with more summer celebrating to be had for Independence Day and in Utah, Pioneer Day! For quilters, that means pulling out the red, white and blue fabric and sewing up some true Americana goodness.
On that note, we would like to introduce you to our new Quilt-of-the-Month pattern program! Our own Ramona Sorensen has been busy designing patterns to help quilters of all skill levels use their scrap stash while practicing tried and true techniques to finish a variety of fast and fun quilts! Each month we will post a new FREE pattern PDF on our website for you to download. Follow along monthly through our newsletter and subscribe to our YouTube channel for supportive tutorials (coming soon) that will help you build your skill set. These patterns and tutorials will be free to our customers, so encourage your quilty friends to follow the QOM fun!
The first in our new series of FREE Quilt-of-the-Month patterns, the Americana quilt would be wonderful in any fabric but we think it's especially great in this red, white and blue color scheme for a perfect summertime picnic quilt. Simple stitch and flip corners create large, traditional star blocks set off by bold stripes. Finishing at 70" x 80" it would be ideal for the Quilts of Valor Foundation!
