Queue the red, white and blue, it's time to celebrate freedom! Raise the flag, break out the bunting... and you know we can't help but bring quilts into the picture. After all, it's an art that's been a part of the American story since the birth of the USA. Sewn by hand or machine, using intentional textiles or the scraps of what's available, quilts continue to paint a picture of our history. What do your stitches have to say as part of the tale? Have you ever considered your quilting hobby to be a thread in history?
The Liberty Woolen Album quilt by Buttermilk Basin is made in the style of early album applique quilts. Familiar motifs steeped in Americana culture create a beautiful tribute to display on your wall. Marianne Michaels made this one using her wonderful hand-dyed wool on a crisp cotton background. Pieced blocks form sashing and an inner border. Custom quilting by Ramona Sorensen finishes it off. We have kits back in stock (the first round sold out overnight)! They include the pattern, hand-dyed, felted wool for applique, and cotton for piecing the 42.5" x 52.5" quilt top and binding for $159.99. You really should see the detail in person. Come take a look!
