So, you've always admired Sue Spargo's style... but you've been a little intimidated by all the detail? The time to overcome that inhibition has arrived! Two highly anticipated new kits are now available and the best part is, they include a six-month Hand Stitching Class! Have you seen Tinsel or Rooted? Both quilts finish at just 20.5" x 23.5," making them an ideal introduction to Sue Spargo's stitching style or a fun skill builder for seasoned stitchers.
Which are you most eager to start? An ode to garden blooms firmly rooted or tiny pines dressed in their holiday best? Either way, you'll enjoy adding thread embellishment to your own wool applique quilt along-side other hand work enthusiasts. Come stitch Sue Spargo style with us!
When you purchase one of our new Sue Spargo Kits (Tinsel or Rooted), you can attend all six hand stitching class sessions led by Marianne Michaels where you'll learn fancy hand-embellishment stitches while you create one of these beautiful sampler quilts. In class we will discuss threads, needles and basic wool applique along with embroidery stitches.
The class will meet in-person the 2nd Tuesday from 1:00 - 3:00 each month for 6 months. It will run from September 2024 - February 2025. The purchase of either the Tinsel or Rooted kit ($154.99) is required to attend the class. A hand stitching book is also required. We recommend either Creative Stitching by Sue Spargo or the Right/Left-handed Embroiderer’s Companion (sold separately). Due to the custom nature and included class, discounts and promotions do not apply to these kits.
Both kits include the pattern for the quilt, hand-dyed felted wool for the applique, wool and cotton for the quilt background, cotton fabrics for embellishment and cotton binding. The quilt backing and threads are NOT included in the kit. Many of you may already have some of the threads to make the quilt. We have a beautiful selection of threads available in the shop and online if you need to purchase them.
Thread Kits are also available. They contain all the thread recommended by Sue Spargo in either the Rooted or Tinsel patterns. If you are registered for the class, you can purchase any of these threads for 15% off the retail price while attending class!

Fun fact about Marsha, you may have thought, with good reason, that Marsha adores our pink feathered friends when, in fact, she's not a fan. That's actually how this whole thing started. Marsha made the mistake of expressing her distaste for flamingos, so what did her friends do? They made her the most beautiful flamingo quilt. That's when the flocks began to arrive... flamingo mugs, flamingo ornaments, flamingos from Florida, flamingos from the North Pole, fancy flamingo jewelry, casual flamingo apparel, flamingo umbrellas, flamingo light switch covers, flamingo drain stoppers... need I go on? Marsha may not love flamingos but they certainly love her -- not as much as we do however. Happy Birthday, Marsha!

This delightful weekly club is for anyone who would like to work on a hand stitching project while learning new hand stitching skills. It's a great chance to finish our own projects and relax with a fun gathering of sewing friends. No fee to attend. Simply come and join us!

Put yourself in Time Out at the Wagon in our School House located directly behind the quilt shop! At times we all need time out from housework, phone calls, and everyday responsibilities. Bring your current sewing project to “Time Out at the Wagon” and do just that. Marsha is looking forward to being in Time Out and hopes lots of you will join her.
