

Utah County is the place for quilters to be in September!


There's SEW much happening for quilters in Utah County this month. From special sales, classes and events right here at Corn Wagon to nationally anticipated events held locally, there's no shortage of reasons for quilters to gather and be immersed in our favorite art. Let's look at a few highlights:

CORN DAZE: TOMORROW, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
For the second time this season, we're offering a coupon for a FREE dozen ears of Harward Farms sweet corn with your purchase of $25 or more in merchandise here at the Corn Wagon Quilt Co.! GARDEN OF QUILTS: SEPTEMBER 11 - 14
In 2019 a seed was planted and guests from across the nation and beyond joined Thanksgiving Point and partner Riley Blake Designs for the Garden of Quilts – a celebration of quilting and fabric arts unlike any other. Set within the 50-acre Ashton Gardens in Lehi, Utah, the festival includes classes from an international roster of favorite teachers, vendors, trunk shows, demonstrations, and a stunning outdoor exhibit of hundreds of beautiful quilts displayed among the flowers and trees.

FINAL DAY OF THE UTAH QUILT SHOW: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
Going on now, this juried exhibition features quilts of all styles and sizes created by some of the State’s finest quilters. Presented by the Springville Museum of Art and the Utah Valley Quilt Guild with support from the Corn Wagon Quilt Co. Our own Averi Reilly was accepted into the show with her stunning Posh Penelope quilt (below)! See how many names you recognize as you stroll through this impressive showcase of talented Utah quilters. Springville Museum of Art is located at 300 East 400 South, Springville, just down the street from the Corn Wagon, so be sure to pick up a coupon and come see us while in town! The museum is open Tuesday – Saturday 10am to 5pm and Wednesdays 10am to 8pm. Closed Sundays, Mondays and Holidays.


SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
While Corn Wagon will not be hosting an event this year, we encourage you to grab a Jelly Roll and celebrate with your quilt gang by sewing a quilt, bag, rug... if it's made using those favorite 2 1/2" precuts, you should carve out some sewing time on September 21st. Make something for yourself or donate it to your favorite quilt charity! Watch for free patterns on our website to release just in time for National Jelly Roll Day!
PAYSON QUILT SHOW: SEPTEMBER 23 - 28
Located at the historic Peteetneet museum, 10 South 600 East, Payson, Utah, this show includes a myriad of quilters activities including quilt displays & awards, youth quilt class, make & takes & open sew Friday, demos, home tour with Nan Theobald, a quilters yard sale, trunk shows with Beth Dunkelberger from Paisley Patch Quilts and Suzanne Jackman of Splendid Speck (she's one of our gals!), opportunity quilt (raffle) and a mystery quilt dinner! CLASSES WITH DARA THOMASSON: SEPTEMBER 24 & 25
We're delighted to have Dara teach two exciting classes while she's in town from Canada! On Tuesday night, 12 Step Perfectionist Recovery is an interactive lecture course that any quilter can benefit from. Wednesday morning, learn the basics of domestic machine quilting. As a professional quilter turned life and weightloss coach, Dara has great perspective and a fun teaching style. Learn more and register online here.

S.A.B.L.E. SALE: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
S.A.B.L.E. stands for Stash Accumulated Beyond Life Expectancy. It's real. We know from experience and we want to help you out! We are hosting a FALL S.A.B.L.E. SALE in our Corn Wagon Too parking lot! Rent a parking stall for $25 and set up shop 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. with fabric, patterns, kits, notions -- anything quilting related that you're willing to part with. You set your own prices and manage your own transactions for your own destash Sale! You can even get a group of friends who are also affected by S.A.B.L.E. syndrome and share a space! We'll get the word out! You bring the goods!
Vendor setup will take place between 7:30am - 9:00am the morning of the sale. Please plan to bring your own tables. Pop-up tents are highly recommended for shade. The sale will go on rain or shine so come prepared. Please contact Angie Pope at the quilt shop with any questions. (801) 491-3551.

Every Tuesday, 10:00am - Noon
This delightful weekly club is for anyone who would like to work on a hand stitching project while learning new hand stitching skills. It's a great chance to finish our own projects and relax with a fun gathering of sewing friends. No fee to attend. Simply come and join us!

Time Out at the Wagon (Open Sew)
Every Wednesday, 10:00am to 4:00pm
Put yourself in Time Out at the Wagon in our School House located directly behind the quilt shop! At times we all need time out from housework, phone calls, and everyday responsibilities. Bring your current sewing project to “Time Out at the Wagon” and do just that. Marsha is looking forward to being in Time Out and hopes lots of you will join her.
