It's the little things that I'm feeling particularly thankful for this year. The sound of kind words, the feeling of a hug from a caring soul, the taste of homemade goodness fresh from the oven, the smell of autumn rain; just a few of the small blessings I've been relishing as the season of gratitude approaches. Take a quilt for example -- each tiny stitch is important, the littlest scraps making an impact, the simple joy that is felt as these small things come together in a beautiful way to create something new; something that can bring comfort in its own unique way. I thought it would be fun to share a few little sewing projects, just right for sneaking in some small stitching moments during the busy holiday season ahead. A little reminder to place in your favorite comfy chair, the Thankful Life wool applique pillow (above) will warm your heart with thoughts of gratitude. The best home cooked meals of the year are nigh and a beautiful tablescape adds extra warmth to traditional fare. Add this beauty to your centerpiece! Marianne Michaels designed and stitched this unique Wheel of Fortune table mat using natural hues, fitting for any decor. The dresden-style spokes are made using felted wool. It's a perfect project for practicing your "Crazy Quilt" stitches between each slice of wool. Our kit includes the pattern and felted wool for dresden shapes, tongues and backing as well as SF101 Shape Flex interfacing. Threads sold separately. This table mat finishes 27" round. You need to see how pretty the embellishment stitches are in person. Another work of art from Marianne!

The Prairie Patchwork Mini Quilt (below) designed by Primitive Gatherings is a perfect little wall quilt to tuck into a cozy corner as part of your autumn decor or year-round. Simple, traditional piecing with just a touch of wool applique makes a great beginner project. The cotton fabrics included in our kit are from the Tumbleweed collection by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics. Finishing at just 14.5" x 17," it's a sweet little blessing indeed.
