It's been a while since we have introduced you to one of our wonderful Corn Wagoneers!  Meet Kathe Torgersen and a few of her favorite fabrics. Her style is as bright and happy as her smile! You've likely met her at the cutting table or register here at the shop, where she has been part of our team since 2020. 

After a meaningful career teaching elementary school for 32 years, Kathe says quilting became a vehicle for finding herself again. Two friends, who just happened to work at Corn Wagon, invited her to sew with them and that was it! It was so fun to get together. Kathe says she hadn't seen herself as being creative, although she recognizes much went into her classroom. Quilting has awakened a new creativity she hadn't felt before. "I just love everything about sewing," she says with a little laugh. We can relate. 

Her favorite make to date is the beautiful Brightly quilt above. You may recognize the popular pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew. Kathe said, "It was really fun to make and I just loved the bright Liberty of London floral fabrics." It now belongs to her daughter (lucky girl!). Kathe is the mother of four children raised here in Utah and 20 delightful grandchildren. When she's not sewing and hanging out here at the shop, Kathe loves to travel. Her favorite destinations include Iceland, Finland, Sweden and the San Juan Islands.

A Sociable Gathering of Like-Minded Souls

With your registration, we cordially request your presence at Corn Wagon's Schoolhouse for an enjoyable sewing circle led by Karen Averett every 1st Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. through the duration of the program. While in attendance, you will learn tips and tricks, stitch away to your heart’s content, and immerse yourself in the world of Jane Austen through lively book discussions. To conclude our gatherings, we shall indulge in a celebratory potluck tea, savoring delectable treats and engaging in amiable conversation.
