Update on your donations to Wrap the World with Quilts. Plus, Utah Shop Hop details inside!
Great thanks are in order, for the many donations brought in by our customers. You're just the best! Here I am dropping off another car load to the ladies at Wrap the World with Quilts; this time with 212 donated items, most of which were quilts! Your generous giving of other humanitarian aid items was also very appreciated -- bedsheets, diapers, toilet paper, toothbrushes, dish towels and more.
Each donation was tagged by their team and picked up for distribution within a couple of days. While visiting their center, I got to see the heap of amazing quilt donations collected at QuiltCon and WOW is it neat to see what quilters can do to make a difference.
Gina Halladay, one of the founders of Wrap the World with Quilts said, "We recently received a message from the LA Fire Department telling us how meaningful and uplifting the quilts are." Be sure to follow @wraptheworldwithquilts on Instagram and Facebook to see regular updates. Often quiltmakers spot their quilts wrapped around a child or family in the photos that are posted.
In January and February deliveries were made to North Carolina flood victims, California LA fire victims (6 trucks full), Lebanon for refugees and Syria for refugees. Last week, more trucks were loaded with aid for Ukraine, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The reach is mind-blowing. "To date, 56,246 quilts have been made and distributed -- that's over 80 tons!"
What would you say to a two-day retreat dedicated to sewing for the cause here at our retreat center? Reply to this email if you would be interested in sewing blocks and tops on a Friday then whatever you'd like on a Saturday. Bring your own fabrics to donate and work with OR sew up one of the easy kits provided by Wrap the World with Quilts. We're looking at dates but need to gauge interest first. Let us know what you think!
