You'll Love this Silly Goose! Plus, Utah Shop Hop Details Inside!

Geese in the spring remind me that Easter is near. My parent's home sits on the edge of a protected wildlife area where springs continually flow warm. It's a haven to all sorts of birds; pheasants, quail, cranes, duck and geese year-round but as you might expect, things really get exciting in the spring. For example, a pair of geese revisit the yard annually. You know geese are big and can be a bit mean but I think the feed my dad provides has created a change of heart in these two love birds. They stand calmly to greet us from a short distance beginning in early March. One day, I steped out of my car and with a wave said, "Hi there," and I'm not kidding, that silly goose lifted one wing to wave back. For a season, they become part of the family. Did I mention they're great at hiding eggs? We've never spotted their nest. They only stay a few weeks and then, after Easter has passed, they move on. Each spring we're hopeful they'll return to say hello again and maybe bring along some friends.

These silly geese are just as lovable. When we first saw the original Silly Goose block pattern by Mija Handmade (found here) we immediately felt it needed to be made into an entire quilt. With the designer's permission, Averi Smith did just that. Introducing the Silly Goose Quilt. Our kit includes the original pattern by Mija Handmade as well as special cutting instructions for multiple blocks, sashing, borders and binding. These instructions are only available with our kit. You'll also receive all the yardage necessary for piecing the 58" x 72" quilt top and binding as shown. Now you can sew up a whole flock of your own silly geese for spring!

About that cute quilt to the right, Plaidy Cake is a favorite pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew. It's looking fresh for the season in an array of colorful wovens pieced by Suzanne Jackman. We only have a couple of these kits left at the shop!

As for the wool applique projects to the left, they are just two of several springtime kits we have here for you. From table mats and pillows to entire quilts, our wool department is blooming with handstitched goodness. Come in and see or visit our online wool shop here.
