Ever wonder why Springville is known as The Art City? Visit the historic Springville Museum of Art and you'll immediately know why. Opening in 1937, it's the oldest museum for the visual arts in Utah and it's unique story is worth a read. With beautiful Mission/Spanish Revival architecture, this edifice has become a well known establishment and we're lucky to be its neighbor, just two blocks down the road.
One of the most anticipated annual displays is the Utah Quilt Show. For two months each summer, over 100 works of textile artistry from some of Utah's most talented quilters are showcased throughout the main-level galleries. It's a joy to honor the Utah quilting tradition and an inspiration to walk through each year and see what our quilting community has been up to.
We want to extend the invitation we received from the museum to all of you! We'd love to see you at the opening reception and awards ceremony tomorrow, July 19th from 10:30 - Noon. Come celebrate fellow quilters who have been accepted into this juried exhibition and be the first to stroll through quilted galleries! The 51st Annual Utah Quilt Show will remain on display through September 20th. It's well worth the trip and we hope you'll come say hello at the Corn Wagon while you're in town. You've shown your love for Strawberry and Selvedge fabric (we've still got some if you need more). Salutations has been a hit and we're now anxiously awaiting the arrival of their new Geometry collection due in August (it's soooooo good).
We have two excellent quilts on display featuring Ruby Star favorites. Kits are available online and in-store while they last! First, Della (above) is a 10" precut-friendly quilt by Splendid Speck that goes together quickly and looks divine in Carousel prints by Miss Melody Miller. Our kit includes the pattern, a Carousel Layer Cake and yardage for piecing the 60" x 70" quilt top and binding.
Next, the panel that took the modern quilt world by storm is the star of this unique quilt by Ruby Star Society. The Ten Years of Magic quilt commemorates the 10th anniversary of Ruby Star Society and all the magic their creative collab has brought to the sewing industry. Each block features one of their iconic designs, easily recognized by RSS lovers. Bold Speckled basics provide a striking color palette. Our kit includes the pattern, panel and 7/8 yard each of 13 Speckled colors. Piece a Speck-tacular binding using your scraps!
