September is Quilt Season here in Utah County. While many see this month ushering in the harvest and hunting season, quilters can always count on a full event schedule. Vibrant quilt shows across the valley and seasonal sales will have us traveling up and down the highway for some of the best inspiration of the year. Here are a few don't-miss highlights we recommend adding to your fall quilting calendar.

Okay, so the first event I want to mention is actually in August -- in fact, it's tomorrow. Don't miss Corn Days at Corn Wagon! Harward Farms sweet corn is a favorite among locals and we're lucky to have a special connection. We team up for one Saturday every year to offer quilters a free dozen ears of their famous sweet corn. Stop in the shop Saturday, August 23rd and receive a coupon with your purchase valued $30 or more. Then take a stroll to the farm stand across the street to redeem it for a free dozen! Can you believe it's almost time for our Fall S.A.B.L.E. Sale? We'll meet you in our parking lot Saturday, September 6th from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. for a fantastic destash sale! One of our customers and previous vendors described it as a giant treasure hunt where quilters are selling kits, yardage and patterns that they haven't gotten around to making. It's wonderful to see these sewing finds go to a loving new home. Be sure to grab a slice of wood-fired pizza from Pizza Friend-zee while you're here and visit our clearance sale for some deep discounts on yardage and more! We still have vendor space available. Next on the agenda, the Garden of Quilts is September 12th and 13th at the Thanksgiving Point Ashton Gardens. This highly anticipated, annual showcase sponsored by Riley Blake Designs is nothing short of breathtaking. Hundreds of quilts hang in the breeze as you walk through a unique array of curated gardens. Tickets are now available from thanksgivingpoint.org  Quilters come from near and far to experience classes, special events, vendor booths and of course the massive quilt display. While you're in town, we hope you'll take the trip south on I-15 to see us at the shop!

The 51st Annual Utah Quilt Show will continue through Saturday, September 20th at the Springville Museum of Art. It's another don't-miss display of textile mastery from some of Utah's most talented quilt artists. Look for our coupon at the museum for 15% off one regular price item of your choice and come visit the shop, less than two blocks up the road, while you're in town.

Quilt Show Lecture: You Gotta (Re)start Somewhere: My quest to finish my parent’s 25th anniversary quilt by their 50th and other mishaps, is a special presentation by Mary Ann Urban at the museum next Wednesday, August 27th, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

... And one more September show for your enjoyment, this time at the south end of Utah County -- the annual Payson Quilt Show at the historic Peteetneet Museum. Come and see colorful works of art by talented quilters and take part in the mystery quilt class, home tour, trunk show, and quilters yard sale.  Open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., September 22 - 26 and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27. FREE Intro to Wool Applique Demo

You'll love her simplified method and gain confidence to begin your own wool applique journey. No registration or supplies needed. Just pop in! Just starting!  Flower Box Friends Club is a wool BOM program designed by Darci Schipnewski of Pastthyme Patterns. This 12-month club features a different wool appliqué flower block monthly. Each round flower block is referred to as a “Petal” that measures approximately 8" in diameter. The variety of flowers (including holiday favorites) and the versatility of the blocks will make this a favorite for seasons to come. For a fun way to display your petals, we're offering an optional kit, sold separately for $21.99, for the black, square background with surrounding wool pennies. We also have put together an optional Valdani Thread Kit just for this program!

Each month you will receive a kit containing 5” wool squares to make the featured flower, plus 10” x 10” cream and black wool squares for the backgrounds. Patterns will be included in your August and January kits with instructions for each six-month season. Threads are sold separately. We have an optional thread kit available that includes Valdani pearl cottons in colors we recommend for this BOM.

These small, easy to manage kits are great for wool applique beginners or for those who love to stitch on the go!
